Statement on the Inability to Suppress Press Freedom and the Official Position of Nowadays News

April 24, 2026

In response to the announcement made on April 24, 2026, by the Ministry of Information—the propaganda arm of the terrorist military—regarding the revocation of media licenses for several news outlets, including Nowadays News, we hereby issue the following counter-statement:

1.Nowadays News is an independent media organization that has been officially registered since the civilian government administration and has consistently operated in accordance with professional journalistic etethics.

2.During the early days of the coup, on March 6, 2021, military forces using four military vehicles violently raided our newsroom. They destroyed office computers, equipment, and other valuables. This act was a blatant violation of press freedom and a clear attempt to conceal the trtruth.

3.Despite the destruction of our office and equipment, our journalists and staff have continued to operate through various means throughout the entire coup period. No amount of military oppression has dampened our spirit; we remain standing strong and committed to our work today.

4.The military junta’s recent announcement regarding the revocation of our license lacks legal validity. As such, we will disregard this notice entirely. Regardless of any obstacles, we will continue to provide the public with the truth and ground-level news through all available channels.

We reaffirm our commitment to standing with the people and uncovering the truth in accordance with media ethics, regardless of the pressure we face.
